Daily Summary FAQ
What is in the daily oil market summary?
One line per day with the WTI and Brent closing prices, US commercial crude stocks excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and their week-over-week change (EIA), the US average retail gasoline price (EIA), and the Baker Hughes US oil and gas rig count. Each line states the market close it refers to.
Why do weekends and holidays not have their own rows?
Markets are closed, so the latest close does not change. The table keeps one row per market close, using the most recent summary written for that close.
Why can the stocks, gasoline and rig figures repeat from day to day?
They are weekly series: EIA publishes crude stocks on Wednesdays and retail gasoline prices weekly (usually Mondays), and Baker Hughes publishes the rig count on Fridays, so those columns only change when a new weekly figure is released. The WTI and Brent columns change every trading day.
Can I get this summary by RSS?
Yes. The same digest is published as an RSS feed at /feed.xml, one item per day, so a feed reader or an automation can pick it up without scraping the page.
